Exactly 21 years, TiVo made its debut at CES as a pioneer in DVRS and now the firm has returned to the event with a replacement device for your television – a streaming stick.

The firm revealed its new Stream 4K at CES in the week that integrates with Sling TV and uses a customized version of Android TV to aggregate your streamed content.

The device carries a tag of $49.99, allowing TiVo to become a contender within the internet-streaming war against the likes of Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

TiVo first introduced a digital video recorder (DVR) in 1999 at CES.

It allowed consumers to use an on-screen guide of scheduled programs so as to record their favorite shows and films in order that they can watch them at a later time.

Now the firm has stepped into the fashionable world with a streaming stick which will support popular streaming Android apps like Netflix, Hulu and YouTube.

But Stream 4K will launch with Sling TV as its main subscription.

'Kick app flipping and remote juggling off the couch,' TiVo shared on its website.

'The movies, shows and sports you're keen on from Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, live TV and more, beat one easy-to-use integrated experience.'

Consumers will have access to TiVo Plus, TiVo's free streaming content network that it launched late last year.
